INNOVATIVE NEW PRODUCT HELPS WIRRAL BUSINESS MAKE NATIONAL AWARDS SHORTLIST
Eurotaps is named as finalist in Product of the Year
Thriving new business Eurotaps has been unveiled as one of four finalists at the Startups Awards 2008, with their innovative water saving tap insert named in the Product of the Year category, giving them the chance to win the £5,000 top prize.
The shortlisting judges were impressed by Eurotaps innovative concept and business growth, placing them among a handful of lucky finalists selected from hundreds of entries.
Birkenhead based Eurotaps has taken a simple, eco-friendly design idea and, with the help of WirralBiz, and the Council's inward investment team, Invest Wirral, built a successful business that is now stretching out across Europe.
Their product is an ingeniously simple delay tap mechanism, which can be fitted by almost anyone to almost any existing taps without expensive plumbing or tap replacement. Yet it can save companies thousands of pound in water bills, and thousands of litres of water.
The Startups Awards 2008, organised by Crimson Business’ Startups.co.uk, in conjunction with Barclays, comprises of 17 categories, each showcasing the best new businesses in the UK. The overall winner will walk away with a £5,000 cheque.
The winners will be unveiled at a prestigious awards ceremony and three-course luncheon to be held at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington on Thursday 30 October.
Gary Madden, Eurotaps Managing Director comments: “We are thrilled to be a finalist in the Product of the Year category and very much look forward to the event in October. Our product not only makes good business sense for our customers, but also makes sense for the environment too. It’s great that our dedication to both these areas has been recognised by Startups.co.uk.
With ‘social and community responsibility’ listed among the judging criteria, we’re hoping that our innovation and commitment in this area will give us a strong chance to not only win the category but also the much-coveted ‘Barclays Startups Business of the Year’ prize.”
